Liberty Stables was founded in 2000 by Mandy Sahf. Mandy started Liberty Stables to help individuals reach their equestrian dreams. After receiving her first "problem" horse 22 years ago, she has poured herself into several training methods and styles sifting through the fads to develop her own methods that have a proven success record. She is certified in Natural Horsemanship and believes that all students, regardless of tack, should have a strong foundational core and wide set of skills when riding and interacting with the horses. Mandy prides herself on her continued education of equine nutrition, biomechanics, behavior modification, conditioning and improving horse and rider harmony. Mandy focuses on creating sound partnerships between horse and rider. She and her students have achieved prestigious awards in regional and national shows and competitions in multiple states across the Midwest.
Sam has been riding horses and ponies since age 8 and has been riding at Liberty Stables since 2010. She has been teaching horsemanship clinics and lessons for 3 years. Her teaching specialties include ground work, developing show skills, promoting a good safe working relationship with horses, and promoting strong equitation. Sam enjoys teaching all levels and focusing on getting her students to their personal riding goals whether it is working on leading a horse without fear or cantering bareback! When not teaching Sam enjoys training her 7 year old Quarter horse Gemini in English and Western pleasure. In addition to heading up the horsemanship program at Liberty, Sam has a Ph.D. in Endocrinology and Reproductive Physiology from the University of Wisconsin and works as a scientist at Promega Corporation.
Erin started her riding career at Liberty Stables thirteen years ago. During that time, she has competed extensively on both the 4-H and Pinto breed circuits, trained horses, and bought a horse of her own. For the past five years, she has taught lessons and horsemanship classes to riders ranging in skill from beginner to advanced. Her favorite part about teaching is watching riders grow in their skills and become more confident in themselves and their horses. Currently, she teaches group lessons and an adult horsemanship class on Sundays. Now a junior at UW-Madison, she enjoys her time at Liberty Stables just as much as she did as an excited new rider in the third grade and still loves watching kids have the same wonderful experience as she did.
